2000  ~ The Hoylake Path

In January 1999 parents and children were asked to consider which of the five plans drawn up by Groundwork Thames Valley they would prefer.

The chosen plan was put into operation in three stages:
1) the building of the path, seating, drainage, etc;
2) the construction of a mosaic;
3) and the planting of low hedging.

From the middle of November 1999 contractors were busy on the redevelopment of the path from Hoylake Crescent. Below is a 'album' of pictures showing the work in progress.

Early morning, and the children are watching the old path being dug up. Busy at work laying the foundations of the new path.

Foundations down, the circle for the mosaic is being laid. The wood for the benches has arrived ready for use.

The benches have been fixed into place as well as a guard rail to protect the hedging. Several lorry loads of tarmac have been required to cover the whole area to the right depth.
The mosaic was begun in January 2000 with the help of Year 6.  In the spring, the hedging was planted. By the summer 2000 the new entrance to the school site fit to welcome pupils and parents in the new millennium was complete.
