Soccer Icon Sam Hurrell's Visit

During the autumn term the school had been following the progress
 of past pupil Sam Hurrell
 as he competed
for the prestigious Soccer Icon award.

After winning this, Mrs Gray was quick to sign him up for an assembly,
and on Monday 30 January he was able to join us.

Mrs Gray had planned an assembly around the theme of 'Hopes and Aspirations'.
She started the assembly by getting us to think of some of our aspirations
for the New Year.  Mrs Davonport got a certificate
for still working at her special aspirations!

Here Mr Rutter and Cllr. Hensley have joined us to see pictures
of some of the staff when they were young.

Then there was a photograph of Sam and his brother
when they were Breakspear pupils.
What were his hopes and aspirations then?
Mrs Gray asked.

Then some of Year 6 were able to ask Sam questions they had prepared.

The girls' football squad, who had recently reached the finals of the girls' 6 a-side tournament, were presented with their medals.

Finally, Sam presented us with a special signed football shirt.
(Sorry about the quality of the photo, the photographer was obviously overcome with emotion!)

We are proposing to run a special training evening for our Year 6 footballers
on Monday 27 February, when Sam will join our training squad.
We will also try to arrange for some of our younger 'ardent'
Chelsea supporters to have a few minutes to get autographs.
