Year 6 visit the British Museum - 6D's Day

Here we our on the steps before the main entrance to the British Museum,
ready to explore its Egyptian Galleries.

One of the most important exhibits
is the Rosetta Stone, the key to
reading Egyptian hieroglyphics.

Then we took a look at this
impressive sarcophagus.

And then one of the religious false doors

There was some drawing to be done... and information to collect.

We checked our size against the pieces
of King Amenhotep III's statue.
It was interesting to know how people lived their lives so long ago.

Sometimes it was easier just
to sit on the floor!
Some canopic jars.
Then there was the journey
back to Ickenham...
and home.
