7 November 2007  ~ 'Love in a Box'

Wednesday 7 November, Assembly, and we were joined by the Rev. Bernie Collins from the United Reform Church and Mrs. Miller who once taught at Breakspear and worships at the Church. Over the past few weeks we had been collecting toys and other Christmas Gifts to fit into a number of boxes - each going with our love to a child who would otherwise 'go without' on Christmas Day.
This was all part of 'Operation Christmas Child'.

It was a tight fit into the hall, since the stage was in place for the Year 5 presentation.

Mrs Davonport, as usual, had planned the event.  She checked everybody knew what to do.

Mr. Collins waited until we had all come into the hall.

Then Mr. Collins talked to us about someone who helped to make 'Operation Christmas Child' possible.

We all listened very carefully.

Then it was time for the boxes to be brought up, starting with those from Year 3.

Then it was time for us to bless the boxes, each class was represented by one child.  Many of these boxes will go to children who live in centres of violence or poverty that hopefully we will never experience.

After the assembly 4D helped get the boxes down stairs to Mr. Collins' car.
It was very full by the time all the boxes had been packed inside!
