8 March 2007  ~  Year 6 Junior Citizen Event

The London Borough of Hillingdon has run Junior Citizen Events for a number of years.  However, frequently these were only available every second or third year, and then for only half the year group.  For the last couple of years we have been able to take the whole of Year 6.  This is a very important experience for our pupils.  They are faced with a number of different situations and have to use all their experiences, teaching and training to make good decisions.  The sorts of situations can range from discovering serious accidents to knowing not to try drugs.
Our children are trusting, and often fall into the traps of wanting to rush to help, believing an adult, or doing what they are told - only realising afterwards that they should have thought and reviewed the situation first.  However, in that experience they have learnt important lessons - ones we hope they will take with them as they become increasingly independent and responsible for their own decisions.

Below we have a number of photographs from the event.
We have not provided a commentary.
Year 6 can not doubt explain to their parents what was taking place.
Others may like to guess, and in doing so consider what are the dangers
and what are the actions that should be taken.
