Year 4's Visit to Verulamium

The 11th November and Year 4 set off for St Albans
and site of the Roman city of Verulamium.

They visited the remains of the theatre and saw parts of the Roman Wall.

Much of the time was spent in the museum, including time in the education centre.

In the education centre they were able to handle genuine Roman objects
which had been found in the ground nearby.

Most of the pottery had been broken and then
thrown away as rubbish (much as we do today.)
Archaeologists have excavated the rubbish dumps and glued the pieces back together!

Some children were able to dress up as Roman Citizens.

It had been an exciting day which really helped us learn
what it might have been like to be a Roman in England 2000 years ago.
