Year 5's Visit to Derbyshire - 1

Year 5 had to carry out their residential field study trip to the Peak District somewhat earlier this year - the first group being 31 March and 1 April, and the second group 1-2 April.  However, the weather was kind and, apart from the dark evenings meaning no evening outdoor games, otherwise the full programme of activities took place.

After an early start (we left school at 7.30 a.m.)
we had a brief stop at Leicester Forest Services

Once off the coach at Matlock Bath, we were pleasantly surprised by the flat walking - there had been rumours of a stiff uphill walk:
unfortunately they soon turned out to be true!

Once at what we believed to be 'the top' we visited our first mine (Nestus)
- or was it a cavern (Rutland)?

Emerging into sunlight - it was time for lunch!
The views were spectacular.
