10 June 2009 ~ The Summer Concert - 1

The 10th of June and almost Midsummer - the ideal time for a summer concert.
The choir and orchestra have been busy rehearsing and,
together with a number of soloists,
presented a selection of music ranging from the positively sinister (Dracula)
to the sublime (The Sound of Music).

The full concert was presented twice - once to the school and once to parents.
The following morning excerpts were played to the Infant School.

The orchestra played a range of pieces,
including three by Handel to celebrate the 250th anniversary of his death,
and two from the Sound of Music..

Every member gave of their best.
Then it was time for some solo items
... clarinets and bassoons...

two pianists

the Year 6 violin and viola players performed Pachelbel's Canon ...

After followed pieces for trumpet and euphonium...

and the James Bond theme as a duet for French Horn and Euphonium.
