Year 5's Residential Trip to Derbyshire - 1

Day 1

The weather for the two trips to Derbyshire were different:
the first enjoyed sunshine for the first two days, only turning wet on the third.
Unfortunately it was that third day that the second group arrived and, in one form or another was fairly damp throughout their three days.
However, as these pictures will show, which ever group the children were in,
they had a great time.

First, it was to Matlock Bath and the Heights of Abraham.
Unfortunately the top was reached by a stiff climb rather than the cable cars
(Mr Rutter/ Mrs Walker was heard to mutter something like,
"That'll make 'm sleep tonight!"  Could this be true?)

Then it was into the first cavern, The Nestus Mine.

Then out into the open and time for lunch - with a view!

Then another stiff climb uphill, where some play equipment came into view.

Underground again to explore the Great Rutland Cavern

Out on the hillside we could explore for minerals.

On the way down from the Heights of Abraham we discovered the giant slide.
