The Breakspear Archives

15 October 2010 ~ Jonny Zucker Visits - 1

To celebrate the library re-opening both Breakspear Schools invited author,
Jonny Zucker, to visit.  For the Junior School this was the second time
he had come to talk about what it's like to be an author
and yet again he kept the children (and staff!) spellbound.

First he told us about an author he had met as a child,
somebody not famous at the time but well known to us now - Roald Dahl.

He told us about how sometimes writers find they get 'stuck' - Writer's Block -
and how it's important to think about different ways of 'fitting' the ideas together. Jonny Zucker said that the meeting with Roald Dahl had encouraged him to write.

Then Jonny Zucker got some of the staff
to help us find lots of exciting words to use in our writing.

There was a very cross and grumpy Mrs Gray - we'd keep out of her way!

Then there was Mr Tucker...

Finally, Mrs Davonport was annoyed by the whispering
and wanted to know who it was!
