Year 4 Visits Harrow Synagogue - 1

On Tuesday 28 September Year 4 set off by train for Harrow Synagogue.
During the autumn term they are learning about the Jewish faith
and this would add to their understanding by visiting a place of worship.

First they gathered in the Synagogue itself.
The boys and men took caps because as a mark of respect
males are expected to cover their heads.

A gentleman welcomed us and explained that during the visit we would be split into groups to experience a number of things to do with the Jewish religion.

One group heard about the scrolls containing the holy scriptures.
These were kept in a special cupboard in the centre of the synagogue.

One was taken out for us to look at.
We couldn't read it, however, because it was in Hebrew.
