15 July 2010 ~ 4B's Water Studies Day

          

On Thursday 15 July 4B set off for Denham and the Colne Valley Country Park.
This year the route was changed to avoid the dangerous crossings of 
Breakspear Road and Harvil Road 
(so they didn't encounter the tall grass, the stinging nettles, 
the brambles, the honking geese or the cow pats!)

First, some sketching of the local environment.
Time to see what wildlife inhabited the waters of the River Misbourne.
The next study was to measure the speed of water flow in the river.
Now to find out something about how the river shapes its route: 
how deep is it? where is it deepest? how wide is it?
Finally, time to make a few notes before heading back to school.
