Year 5's Residential Trip to Derbyshire - 1

Day one setting off well before 8 a.m.
we broke the journey half way for short stop.

Then it was on, up to Matlock Bath and the Heights of Abraham
- we were warned about the gentle walk up hill, but didn't expect this!.

We visited the Nestus Mine and then had lunch - we needed it!

Then we climbed higher to reach the Great Masson Cavern,
but before that some great activity equipment.

After YET MORE CLIMBING (!) this time underground, we emerged onto the hillside where we could search for minerals and enjoy the superb view over Matlock.

Once down from the Heights of Abraham we took a look at the Matlock Bath itself. This involved MORE uphill walking
(anybody would think they - the adults - were trying to wear US out
(though THEY had to do it too!)
We did find some more activity equipment, however, and
Mr. Tucker posed for his picture in front of a suitable sign.

Then, NO MORE WALKING UP HILL!
We set off for Eyam and the Youth Hostel.
