21 November 2011 ~ ' Love in a Box' Assembly

It is Monday 21 November and we go into the hall for a special assembly.
Some of us are holding attractively decorated shoe boxes.

We are all waiting expectantly.

At one end of the hall is a table covered with a simple cloth.

The Rev'd Bernie Collins has joined us for the assembly.
Mrs. Davonport reminds us that we have decorated the boxes
and filled them full of small gifts as presents
for other children who would otherwise have nothing at Christmas.

We watch a short video showing the journey our boxes will make
and of the children who received boxes last year
and the pleasure these gave them.

We then brought forward our boxes, a year group at a time,
for them to be placed on the table.

The table was now piled high with boxes.
One child from each class remained at the front to bless the boxes
as we thought of the children who would be made happy by our gifts.

After the assembly Mrs. Davonport's class took the boxes
down to the Rev'd Collins' car for them to begin their long journey,
each box carrying with it our 'love' for the person who would receive it.
