5T and 5C's Residential Trip to Derbyshire - 2

After yet more climbing - underground...

We emerged on a hillside with a view over Matlock.

Time to celebrate with a photo!

Then it was off down hill.
Once down we explored Lovers' Walk.

We set off for the Youth Hostel at Eyam,
food, and a well deserved night's sleep.

The following morning we were to explore the village itself where,
in 1665, the plague arrived from London.
To protect the other nearby villages, the inhabitants of Eyam
cut themselves off from all contact with the outside world.

We got our maps and worked out our routes.

Off we set to find the different objects in the pictures.

After lunch back at the Youth Hostel we set off for a return visit to Matlock Bath.
We explored the Mining Museum, completing some work but also experiencing
what it must have been like to climb through mine shafts.

We also had a tour of the Temple Mine ....

... and panned for gold.
