7 November 2014 ~  'Shoebox' Assembly

Over several weeks we have been bringing to school shoe boxes
and filling them full of wonderful gifts,
each box to
go to a child less fortunate than ourselves
and who would otherwise have nothing for Christmas.

It is now time to send our boxes on their way.
We prepared a table in the upper hall.
First to arrive to place their boxes on the table are Reception.
Mrs Murphy says a few words...

... Mr Rutter talks about what we have put in the boxes,
and then it is time to put our boxes on the table.

After Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 come into the hall.

We watch a short video clip before adding our boxes.
Then we think of the children who our boxes will be going to -
we hope they will bring them happiness.

Just before lunch time the Juniors come into the hall.
It is a tight fit to get everybody in.

Then each year group bring their boxes to add to those already on the table.
The pile grows taller and taller.

After lunch Mrs Murphy goes to the nursery ....
they too have packed some shoeboxes.

Eight children join Mrs Murphy and Jamela
to add their boxes to all the others.

Once we had all presented our boxes
4H take them down stairs
to be carried off to the village
where they will join others.
At the end of next week
they will begin their long journey.
