6 May 2014 ~ The Gazebo Opening Ceremony

Many years ago we built a Gazebo where children could sit during playtimes...

... but over time wood rots, especially where the ground is often damp
so Mr Saunders and Mr Wožniewski
had to demolished it just before Christmas 2013.

Mrs Sumner asked the School Council to choose a design for a new gazebo.
So they worked with Mr Saunders, and early in 2014 it was built.

Now all we needed was a lovely sunny day officially to open our new gazebo.
On Tuesday 6 May the whole school gathered on the junior playground

The brass players played some music, and Mrs Sumner welcomed everybody

The School Council went with Mr Saunders, and he cut the ribbon,
officially opening the gazebo.

One of the School Council said a few words ...

Breakspear has a special place in all our hearts.
I am happy to say we have the gazebo,
a lovely place where we can play and learn.
All the members of the School Council
are delighted with the new and improved version.
We have yet to sing the school anthem,
a touching song that comes from our hearts
and shows how much Breakspear means
not only to the children, but the staff too.
I also have to thank all the staff
for we wouldn't be here today without them
and Breakspear would not be what it is now.

Everybody then sang the school anthem.

and the brass group played again to close our special ceremony.
