12 June 2014 ~  Year 5 & 6 Sports - 1

Thursday 12 June, and we all (Years 5 and 6)
gathered on the Junior playground.

Mr Compton reminded everyone how the afternoon would work.

Twelve activities, four minutes each.
First stop, the speed bounce.

Then the netball challenge.
We've been playing for some time so did reasonably well,
especially Year 6 who've also done Friday lunchtime basketball.

We've learnt that we've got to be careful with the long jump,
feet in the right place to begin, and not to fall backwards when we land.
Then there's the javelins, not real of course
(hope we get those at secondary school)
but the foam ones are OK if you know how to throw them.
Being a proper sports day, with winners and a shield you need someone to score - thank you Miss Oliver and Mrs Gibbons.
The sitting throw can be quite tricky, not often you need to do it
so we don't get much practice.
Of course many of us rather like the football skills section, dribbling ...
... and trying to score goals.
