September 2014 ~ Year 6 Cycle Training

          

Year 6 pupils were offered a course in cycle training. 
A third of the year group took up the opportunity.
And so for four weeks they turned up at school 
on either Saturday morning or afternoon for the course.  

The first week was spent on basic skills on the playground.

During the second and third week it was out on the roads around the school.
Learning how to move onto the road safely ...
... then how to circulate in traffic.
On the fourth Saturday it's assessment time.
Bikes are checked, and off to demonstrate all the skills they've learnt
As the groups return two hours later there's some final advice
All the children successfully completed the training.
Well done to them, and sincere thanks to their instructors.
The course will help them cycle more safely on quiet roads.
