In 2012 Miss Gifkins, now Mrs Seddon, contacted us with some photographs from her years teaching at Breakspear in the early 1970s. These cover the years 1970 to 1973. We present them here, in date order. First, Christmas 1970 - a First Year Junior (Year 3) class in the Green Hut |
|
The same Christmas 1970 - the Christmas Pantomime, either Puss in Boots or Dick Whittington. Miss Gifkins was the cat. A few other staff names include Mr Andy Bedows (the Dame, who went on to be the deputy at Hermitage School), Mrs Connie Dove, Miss Marilyn Mee, and Mrs Shirley Major.
1971, and an art exhibition in the newly built Junior School hall.
1971 - Summer, Miss Gifkins with her class outside the Green Hut
1972 - Summer, The Green Hut, inside and out
1972 - Christmas Pantomime - Aladdin
This time Miss Gifkins was Aladdin ... dressed in old pyjamas and a very dodgy hat with pigtail attached. Mr. Roy Mapplebeck is in the foreground doing the "Oh no he isn't" routine by the back of Miss Joan Parker's head. Miss Gifkins remembers that she had to sing "Whenever I feel afraid" and she says she certainly was at that moment as Miss Parker was a hard task master! |

Finally 1973, Summer and a picnic on Top Field |
