The Path to Lilleshall
1. On 31
January the School Football Team played in the Middlesex Primary Schools
6-a-side Tournament at Oak Farm School. They won the Tournament,
entitling them to represent Middlesex in the South-East England
Tournament

2. On 27
March the South-East England Six-a-Side Football Tournament was played
at Luton. The Breakspear team emerged runners-up to the winning
team. However, this was sufficient to take them through the the National
Finals at Lilleshall. Their
success in the Regional Tournament was recorded in the Gazette, though
this did not appear until the day after the Middlesex Primary Schools'
Eleven-a-side final of the Alf Gant Cup - referred to in the article -
had been played.

3. The
augmented eleven-a-side team played in the final of the Middlesex Alf
Gant Cup on 21 April where they lost to George Spicer School.

4. The
On Saturday 24 April the team, sporting new teeshirts emblazoned with
the school's shield, traveled to Lilleshall. In the finals,
although they lost to the overall winners (the same team that had
defeated them in the Regional Finals), to be second out of the whole of
England was a fantastic achievement.
