Year
6 Life during World War II
On Thursday 13 October we had a workshop
presentation
that helped us to understand what it might have felt like
to be living in England during the Second
World War.
Here we are, with an
Air Raid Warden's helmet
on.
And here are some of the
other things he
would wear.
Everybody had to have a gas mask.
The Warden appears to have
lots of helpers!
The School was a Look Out Post for fires
during the war
Here we are at home reading
a paper from the
1940s
We get down low to avoid being
hit during an air raid.
We all try to feel what we might have done if
there had been an air raid warning.
Not quite sure what we're up to here!
More are coming to help.
We're removing a bomb,
is it
unexploded?
If so, we'd better take care.
The RAF played a big role in the war...
The Americans were also
stationed over here.
Fashions were certainly different!
Certainly it helped us to know
what it was like sixty years ago.
Mr Ward was the first
Headteacher. Here
is his letter to parents early in the war, click on it to enlarge.
