| Early on the 24th (Yes, the 24th!) ... | the Romans assembled ... |
|
|
| at Breakspear Junior School - | all were waiting expectantly ... |
|
|
| for the day ahead. | |
|
First we heard about Roman life two thousand years ago from a Roman Matron. |
|
|
| Then the Legionaries arrived... | to take us through some military training. |
|
|
|
|
|
Also, we understood we had to listen carefully... |
to the orders given. |
| We quickly learnt to stand to attention in the correct format. | |
|
|
| We learnt that disciplined formation was the strength of the Roman army. | |
|
|
| Finally... | we learnt how to go into battle... |
|
|
| as a close group, using our shields to defend ourselves. | |
|
|
|
We learnt a lot about what it must have felt like to be a Roman in England two thousand years ago. |
