Monday 2nd of
June, and the school was back from the Summer Half Term
holiday. Just before playtime everybody assembled on the
playground.
We were there to
put into place a special stone marking the building of the studio.
Two children from Year 3 were to help by preparing the stone.
Mr.
Rutter reminded the school that it has a long tradition of excellence.
That many
people have fond memories of their years at Breakspear.
It is a
school where people work and play hard
to achieve their very best.
While we can look
back with pride in what the school has achieved,
the studio looks forward to how it can continue
to provide the
very best for the children of Ickenham.
We look forward to another
successful 70 years and it may be that many here for this special
occasion will look back in 70 years time and remember this special day.
The special 'Date
Stone' was to be placed near the top of the studio...
The brass group
played some music
while Mr. Saunders set off with the two children from Year 3
Mr. Saunders, the
two children from Year 3 and Mr. Rutter climbed the scaffolding
to where the stone was to be prepared.
Each child placed some mortar onto the stone with a trowel.
This was to fix the stone permanently in the wall.
Mr. Saunders then took the stone
further up the scaffolding and put it in its place.
This was a day to
be proud of what had been achieved
and in so doing, support the future children at Breakspear.
