Then we were taken
to the central prayer hall.
At the far end was the throne on which was placed the Guru Granth
Sahib.
After sitting peacefully for a while, we were able to go close
to the Guru Granth Sahib, but needed to treat it with respect
as one would do royalty, kneeing before it or bowing the head,
before walking round it. |

Next we went to
another room where, if we wanted,
we were given Karah Parshad, a very sweet sacred food.
If we took some we had to eat it so most of us just had a little at
first,
to taste it - we found it was very nice so many of us had some more! |

Finally, as it was
lunch time, we visited the Langar where we had lunch.
Again, many of us were cautious since some of the foods were new to us.
But once we tried them most of wanted some more. |

It had been a fascinating
trip and helped us understand what we were learning
about the Sikh religion and about our friends who are Sikhs. |
