Year 5's Residential Trip to Derbyshire - 5

Day Three and Castleton before the journey home.
Castleton - Castle + ton
'Ton' ?  A hill - A HILL?!

First stop, Treak Cliff Cavern - up a hill.

After a brief wait, we entered the cavern.
This is a boulder bed, no solid rock, just great boulders jammed together.
But this is also the home of Blue John,
and of a most wonderful cave of fantastic stalagmites and stalagmites.

After lunch at the Treak Cliff and enjoying the spectacular view
we set off for Castleton - most of it DOWN HILL!

It had been a great trip, thanks parents for letting us go,
and thank you to the adults who took us.
