4 July 2012 ~Year 4
Walk to Denham, 4D's Day

It had been one of the wettest, if not THE wettest summers on record.
There were rumours that part of the footpath to Denham
trodden by previous Year 4s was muddy, VERY MUDDY.
So it was with some trepidation that 4D set out
on the morning of Wednesday 4 July.

Well, they arrived in one piece - but there had been mud - lots of it!
However, being 4D, they were still smiling.

Time for river studies - the River Misbourne -
Checking river speed and the effects of erosion by flowing water -
all very grand stuff that would set them in good store for A level geography!

In no time at all it was time for lunch.
This was a chance to dry our feet (wet with all that mud),
put on dry socks and replace the trainers with boots.
Fortunately, while under cover, this was the time for a brief shower.
After a little more work on rivers it was time to set off for the Grand Union Canal
at Denham Deep Lock.  We were able to see a barge go through the lock.
Then it was time to head over the bridge and the walk home.
