Year 4 visit Roman Verulamium - 4D's Day - 1

Wednesday 10th November and Year 4 set off for the St. Albans,
and the ancient Roman city of Verulamium.

Much of the city had been destroyed long ago, with many of the stones and bricks reused to build, among other things, the medieval cathedral.

First stop - A look at the Roman theatre

We had obviously been very busy because it was already time for lunch.
Out in the open, chilly (we don't mind),
but glorious sun after the rain over the past two days.

Once we'd finished our lunch we took a look at the hypocaust
- the Roman central heating system.

Then we headed for the museum.
We were lucky enough to handle some real Roman items.
