14 July 2010 ~ 4D's Water Studies Day

On Wednesday 14 July 4D set off for Denham and the Colne Valley Country Park.
This year the route was changed to avoid the dangerous crossings of
Breakspear Road and Harvil Road
(so they didn't encounter the tall grass, the stinging nettles,
the brambles, the honking geese or the cow pats!)

The first study - measuring the speed of water flow in the River Misbourne.
Now to find out something about how the river shapes its route:
how deep is it? where is it deepest? how wide is it?
Of course somewhere in the day there was lunch (yeh!) and some sketching.

On the way back they studied the Grand Union Canal and Denham Deep Lock.

Here they all are crossing the canal at the end of the day.
