Day one setting off well before 8 a.m. we settled into our seats.

Half way to Derbyshire we stopped at Leicester Forest Service Station 
for a short rest, a drink and a snack

Then on, to Matlock Bath and the Heights of Abraham. 
We started out on a gentle slope upwards....

and up, and up ....

Finally we arrived at the top (we thought) with superb views all around.

Time for lunch - we needed it!

We visited the Nestus Mine ...

Then, once back in the open, realised we were far from the top ...
we were exhausted!

However, it's surprising how quickly you can recover!!

We then visited the Great Masson Cavern.
