*9-11 May 2011 ~* 5W and 5C's Residential Trip to Derbyshire - 2

After yet more climbing, this time underground, we emerged onto the hillside above Matlock.

Here we hunted for minerals: calcite and fluorspar.

Then it was time to leave the Heights of Abraham, going downhill into the valley to explore Lovers' Walk

Finally it was time to head off to Eyam and the Youth Hostel. Mrs. Walker told us which room we would be in.

Some of us had never made a bed before, let alone on the top of a bunk bed.

Once we'd achieved the impossible, Mrs. Walker talked to us in the Education Room.

After we'd had our evening meal we recovered enough energy to go down to the sports field for some games.



A story and a good night's sleep followed. The following morning we prepared for the Eyam Trail. We were given a map, some pictures and a number of descriptions. Reading the map we had to find our way to each of the places marked and match the pictures and description to what we could see.
