What will be the doorways are knocked through.

Now there is a hole in the wall, machinery can be driven into the quadrangle 
and work can begin on clearing the east side...

and a start is made on digging the trench for the foundations of the main wall.

 The ground is a thick layer of clay.  A pipe is found running across the quadrangle - care will need to be taken that this is not damaged as the foundations go in. 

 Meanwhile, inside the bricked in windows are plastered and plastered 
before tidying the corridors before the start of term. 

Finally, before the start of term on 21 April, the first floor hole in the wall 
is boarded up to wait for later in the term, 
while that in the Infant school is joined to the external entrance opposite the pond by a specially built tunnel which the workmen can use to get to and from the quadrangle.
