The Breakspear Archives

11-13 / 13-15 May 2009 ~
Year 5's Residential Trip to Derbyshire - 3

Day 2
Up, dressed and breakfast...

Then the first group left on the coach to return to Matlock Bath

While the second group did things the other way and stayed in Eyam
(We'll follow the first group's order.)

At Matlock Bath one group visited the Mining Museum.
This included exploring some passageways.

While the other group walked up (yes, up again) to the Temple Mine.
While half were in the mine...

the other half panned for gold.

In the afternoon (or in the morning for Group 2) we explored Eyam,
using some elementary map reading skills.
We were supposed to be looking for history related to the plague,
but found some strange things along the way...
alpacas..

And another group.... lost?

However we did find the plague cottages, Catherine Mompesson's tomb

The Boundary Stone...

... and the stocks!
