The Staff Room Project - Junior 'Learning Base'

And what of the old Junior School Staff Room?

This was to be one of three 'Learning Spaces' in the school
- areas set aside for small group meeting rooms.
This would become the "Learning Base", the second
(the existing large Special Needs Room) would become the "Learning Zone",
while third and smallest room would become the "Learning Space".
The "Learning Base" will support a range of activities from support work,
to staff INSET meetings and Governing Body meetings.

Once the teaching staff had left for their summer holiday,
Mr. Saunders set to work clearing the the room of chairs and tables

His discerning eye noted that there was some work to be done here if it were to be 'fit for purpose'. First, there were areas of plaster coming off.  This had been caused by past roof leaks - but the roof above had been part of the reroofing so all this could be made good without risk that his work would be quickly undone.

Then the 'kitchen' end needed sorting out: reduce the length, change the doors,
ah, that looks better...

The existing carpet had been there a long time, and even the best trained teachers occasionally spill tea or coffee, so down goes a new carpet...
the new interactive whiteboard donated by the PA is moved into the new room..

A network link and telephone are installed,
the curtains are put back to give it a friendly feel....

and, pending some money for new, good quality tables and chairs, some are borrowed from the hall to get us started at the beginning of the school year.

Thank you Mr. Saunders, this is great!
